Title: Data-Informed Gift Planning:  Using Research to Help Donors and Improve Your Program

    Presenter: Joe Bull

Webinar Description: In the fall of 2019, Giving USA Foundation produced its first-ever report on gift planning, "Leaving a Legacy: A New Look at Planned Giving Donors." Unfortunately, this special report has largely been lost to the refocusing of gift planners during the COVID pandemic. ACGA's most recent Survey of Charitable Gift Annuities has similarly been neglected. These reports contain a treasure trove of data that should be implemented by gift planning programs to identify potential planned gift donors, improve the interactions with those donors, strengthen the relationships with existing donors, and build organizational leaders' support of the gift planning program. Most organizations can also do a better job of mining their own data. This session will provide research-based insights that gift planners from any organization can use to enhance their gift planning programs.

Title: P.I.V.O.T. to Turn Planned Gift Inquiries into Planned Gifts

Presenters: Karen L. Piel and Delinda Rood

Webinar Description: Some of the best days for a gift planner are those when you receive a phone call or email “out of the blue.” A visitor to your website completes a request for a gift annuity illustration. A long-time annual donor calls to ask for your stock transfer instructions. An advisor sends an inquiry about your policy on accepting real estate gifts. You respond to the query, then wait for a response (or a gift) and are met with silence. The promising lead became a dead end, and you have no idea why. What could you have done differently? In this session we will learn a five-step response to emails, calls, and website inquiries that turns them into planned gifts.

Note: This session was pre-recorded on 5/21/2024.

Title: Using Portfolio Reviews to Maximize Planned Gifts For Your Organization

    Presenter: Camille Anderson Licklider

Webinar Description: How can we best serve our fundraising colleagues as they manage proposals that have a planned giving component? How do we "check up" on their progress in a way that feels supportive? How do we encourage them to collaborate with us, and how do we ensure that all of our proposals are on track? Conducting portfolio reviews on a consistent basis can increase the likelihood that open proposals close in a timely manner, while also serving as an effective form of education for fundraisers at all levels of your organization. This session demonstrates one institution's approach to micro-portfolio reviews that are focused on planned gifts and how this process has created a culture of collaboration and teamwork across a vast array of fundraising teams.
